The main differences between dry-type and oil immersed test transformers
From the perspective of insulation performance, oil immersed test transformers usually have higher insulation strength and better heat dissipation ability, making them suitable for high voltage, large capacity continuous operation. Dry equipment, on the other hand, is more lightweight and suitable for small to medium capacity and on-site mobile testing.
From the perspective of weight and transportation, dry equipment has obvious advantages. Many power maintenance units require frequent on-site testing, and dry-type test transformers are easier to transport and can effectively reduce labor intensity.
From a maintenance perspective, dry-type equipment hardly needs to deal with insulation oil issues, while oil immersed equipment requires regular checks on oil quality, sealing, and oil level.
In terms of service life, both can operate stably for a long time under standard usage conditions, but oil immersed equipment usually has a longer service life under high load conditions due to better heat dissipation performance.
יישום
Indoor and underground substations: As dry-type transformers are air-cooled and non combustible, they are often installed in underground rooms, tunnels, and indoor substations with limited ventilation and strict fire safety standards. Its compact design and low maintenance requirements simplify work in small spaces.
Wind and solar energy systems: In renewable energy installations, dry-type transformers serve as the upgrading units between power generation and grid connection. Their resistance to temperature changes, dust, and humidity makes them highly reliable in outdoor wind turbine nacelles or solar inverters.
Oil, gas, and chemical plants: These environments require equipment to eliminate explosion and fire hazards. Dry type transformers can operate safely even in areas exposed to steam, chemicals, or corrosive gases with flame-retardant insulation and sealed or cast coil options.
Water treatment and protection areas: Due to the risk of no oil leakage pollution to the environment, dry-type transformers are more favored in sewage treatment plants, seawater desalination facilities, and sites susceptible to flooding. Its epoxy resin encapsulated winding ensures a long lifespan even when exposed to humid environments.
Commercial complexes and apartments: Dry type transformers provide efficient, quiet, and safe power distribution in high-rise buildings, shopping malls, and office buildings. They have minimal maintenance and good fire resistance, making them very suitable for indoor installation near loading centers.
Fire prevention or ecological protection zones: Dry type transformers are used in facilities such as hospitals, laboratories, schools, and environmental protection sites to meet strict safety and sustainability standards. Its non-toxic and self extinguishing materials ensure reliability and environmental compliance.
